Want to know what it’s like to stay at Hotel Flor in Downtown Tampa?
Hotel Flor is a historic hotel in downtown Tampa that has recently been re-imagined into a Hilton Tapestry Collection hotel.
Many historic elements and details can still be seen throughout the common areas, but the rooms are updated and modern.
What stands out about this hotel the most is the amenities included in your stay, such as a complimentary shuttle service that will take you anywhere you need in town.

Hotel Flor Tampa Downtown Review
During a recent event in Tampa, my sister and I stayed at Hotel Flor.
We were attending an event at the convention center and wanted to be as close as possible, but for an affordable price.
So we couldn’t afford the hotels that are right there at the convention center, but we were able to find this one downtown.
Honestly, it looked nicer with its historic elements and had better amenities, so we were happy to stay a few more blocks away.
From the front, it looks a little bit like the Tipton Hotel from The Suite Life of Zack & Cody on Disney Channel!
On the first day, we walked to the convention center, which was about a 20 minute walk, and there were a few spots with some homeless people roaming around, but it didn’t feel particularly dangerous.
I probably wouldn’t walk around at night by myself, but in daylight, as a pair, we felt safe, but alert.
There is a drug store just down the street if you need anything that the hotel doesn’t carry.
Hotel Flor offers valet parking only around the corner from the hotel entrance, so you don’t have to take your luggage very far when you’re arriving or leaving.
The elevators are very old and on the smaller side, but they look very well maintained and restored.

Once you get to the lobby, it is beautiful and bright.
You can tell it has recently been restored, but it maintains many historic elements.

They offer complimentary cookies and water throughout the day too.

King Room
We normally would have chosen a room with 2 queen beds, but the King rooms were the only ones available when we booked our stay, which was fine with us.
I’ve stayed in a handful of historic downtown hotels and the rooms tend to be pretty small, tight spaces, but this seemed like a normal sized hotel room to me.
If anything, really only the bathroom is a tight space.
But the bathroom vanity is large enough for 2 people to get ready at the same time.
There is a lot of space on both sides of the bed and outlets to charge several things at a time.
Inside the dresser, there is a mini fridge, but there is no microwave in the room.
We had a view overlooking the valet parking lot, so we were able to see our car, and the rest of the view was facing northeast, away from Tampa.
The air conditioning works VERY well in this room, so if you’re visiting in the middle of Summer, you’ll have no problem cooling off.

Hotel Amenities
We stayed at Hotel Flor for 3 nights, so we had quite a bit of down time to explore and use the amenities that the hotel offers.
One thing I loved about the lobby and other common areas is how much comfortable seating was available.
If you’re a remote worker, this is a great hotel to get work done in the lobby or the mezzanine above the lobby.
Fitness Center
We checked in early on a week day, so we were there on the in-between time after many people checked out and before people were starting to check in for the weekend.
So we had the fitness center to ourselves for the hour we were there.
I used the bike, which is a Peloton bike, so if you have a Peloton account, you can log in to use it.
My sister just did a little bit of everything.
The decor of the fitness center was cool because there was wallpaper with the classic fitness regimens of the late 1880s-1920s era.
If you’ve seen the Disney movies Young Woman and the Sea or Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken, they give off the same vibe of like old, Atlantic City.

Complimentary Shuttle Service
The BEST perk at this hotel is their complimentary shuttle service to anywhere you want to go in a 3 mile radius of the hotel.
So basically anywhere downtown.
After the first day, we started taking the shuttle down to the convention center to save time.
Most others were going to and from the convention center too, so we never waited more than 10 minutes for the shuttle.
All you have to do is just call the number the front desk gives you and let them know where you need to go and how many people are in your party and they’ll pick you up right at the entrance.
Daily Food & Beverage Credit
Part of the daily resort fee while staying here can be applied to your daily food and beverage credit that you can use at the bakery and restaurant.
We used ours at the Cass St Coffee Company each morning before going to the convention center.
We each got a drink and a pastry to try to get as close to the $15 per day that we could.
Just as a side note, if you use a Hilton team member rate, you do not get charged the daily resort fee, so you don’t get the food and beverage credit, but you can still use the shuttle.
Additionally, if you’re a Hilton team member, you get 50% off at the hotel owned dining options.
